IWAKAN’s motto is to avoid presenting role models or definitive answers, instead gathering diverse perspectives and approaches to question the “norms” of society.

Founded in October 2020, IWAKAN challenges societal norms by addressing "discomfort" and supports those who experience it. The aim is not to provide definitive answers but to think together and propose new norms collaboratively. The inaugural issue, themed "Men and Women," questions the norms surrounding gender and sexuality. The initial print of 500 copies sold out in just two days, with three reprints bringing the total to 1,500 copies within a month and a half.
