A collection of previously unreleased recordings spanning Arthur Russell’s career from the early 1970s to his final years.

Moving fluidly between folk, jazz, pop, rock, and disco, his unique sense of melody and poetry remains the constant thread. This album quietly reveals a side of Russell deeply focused on “song.”

As the title suggests, it captures both his nostalgic gaze toward his Iowa roots and the fragments of dreams he pursued as a musician—beautiful yet ephemeral.

Born in 1951 in Iowa, Arthur Russell was a cellist, composer, and producer.

Transcending genres such as minimal music, jazz, disco, ambient, folk, and dub, he was a singular presence in the underground music scene of 1980s New York.

Through collaborations with Walter Gibbons and Larry Levan, as well as co-founding Sleeping Bag Records, he helped bridge club culture and avant-garde music, pioneering new sonic landscapes.

Posthumously rediscovered, his influence continues to inspire many musicians today.
