Arthur Russell's 1986 masterpiece, World of Echo, reissued by Audika Records.
Composed solely of cello, voice, and echo, this album embodies the sonic approaches of disco, minimalism, folk, and dub while transcending any existing musical genre with its singular resonance.
Its deeply intimate and meditative beauty continues to exert a profound influence across genres and generations, even decades after its release.
Arthur aimed to create the "most vivid rhythmic reality." By eliminating percussion and crafting rhythm through space and reverberation, he pioneered a groundbreaking musical experience that challenges the listener’s perception.
This reissue includes 18 tracks, featuring drumless versions of his disco-era classics like "Let’s Go Swimming," "Tree House," and "Wax The Van," along with previously unreleased material.

Arthur Russell
Born in 1951 in Iowa, Arthur Russell was a cellist, composer, and producer.
Crossing boundaries between minimal music, jazz, disco, ambient, folk, and dub, he was a singular presence in the underground music scene of 1980s New York.
Through collaborations with Walter Gibbons and Larry Levan, as well as co-founding Sleeping Bag Records, he bridged club culture and avant-garde music, forging new sonic landscapes.
Posthumously rediscovered, his work continues to inspire countless musicians today.
