A beautifully illustrated story about Julian, a boy who dreams of becoming a mermaid.
On the way home from the pool with his grandmother, young Julian rides the subway.
Fascinated by three elegantly dressed women who look like mermaids, Julian confides in his grandmother, "I'm a mermaid."
Instantly, Julian’s imagination takes flight, and he transforms into a mermaid!
When his grandmother calls him back to reality, he rushes home and creatively fashions his own mermaid costume.
However, his grandmother doesn’t seem impressed, leaving Julian disheartened. "Am I not supposed to dress like a mermaid?"
But to his surprise, she invites him to step outside in his mermaid outfit, and with a mix of excitement and apprehension, he follows her.
Outside, Julian encounters a dazzling parade filled with people dressed as mermaids and sea creatures—including the same glamorous women he had admired!
And then, something magical happens...
