A catalog of the exhibition held at the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection in 2017.
Wosene Worke Kosrof is one of the leading painters in contemporary African art.
He is known for his vivid use of colors, rhythmic lines, and a style that incorporates the essence of African traditional art.
One of the defining features of Wosene’s art is the abstract compositions interwoven with patterns resembling letters, inspired by Amharic, one of Ethiopia’s main languages.
Since the 1970s, he has held numerous exhibitions in museums and galleries across the United States and Europe.
In Japan, he has also held solo exhibitions at a gallery in Kochi Prefecture since 1995.
Another defining element of Wosene’s paintings is his use of color, influenced by jazz musicians such as Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as contemporary Ethiopian music, nature, landscapes, food, scents, and various aspects of the world around him.
